1.1 carbs

could anyone help me out with finding the best place to get a webber for a 1.1c? much appreciated! andy

ebay mate? also put it in the wanted section that your after one someone can probs help you out!

had a look on ebay, nothing on there at the moment, il try the wanted idea, cheers! and keep the suggestions coming  

do the 1.1's come with a webber as standard or is it an upgrade as mines got a webber on it and wondered whether its been fitted by a previous owner

mines got a pierburg on at the moment, think that was what was standard on the 1.1's

Mine's a 1.1 and it has a Solex. I think they changed to Pierburg after '79'

mines an 83', would be a pierburg then, cheers

As far as I'm aware (and according to Haynes manauls) all 1.1 and 1.3s originally came with a Solex carb. VW moved over to using soley Pierburgs on the mk2. Quite likely Pierburgs have been fitted either a VW supplied replacement or of a mk2, carbs on these engines have often been repaced a number of times over the years.

Best place for a Weber 34 JCH is Ebay, they do come up regularly - but many are for Land Rovers and not suitable for Golfs.

Nope !

For a 1.1 or 1.3 ideally you want ;

9-350

and…

Golf 1.1 1974-83  ? 15290 991
Golf 1.3 1977-83 ? 15290 992

Search on Ebay with 34 ICH or Weber 34, also people often mis-spell it as Webber.

Not available new for the last couple of years.

The cars for which they were a replacement are getting a bit long in the tooth now - e.g. a 1983 Golf is nearly 25 years young !

Not quite sure what you mean.

Did you get my Email with the Guide ?

You need one stamped 9-350 on the side.

And you need to check the jet sizes - easiest way is to take the float cover off and take out the Main Jets - they should be stamped 127 for a 1.1 or 125 for a 1.3.

This is as per the spec sheets in the Guide.
