im pretty sure you can use same gearbox, exhaust, driveshafts and gearlinkages dude.

im pretty sure the only thing youd need to change is the actual block n head pal but dont quote me on that.

Carb might be jetted slightly differently and gearbox slightly different ratios.

Lot of effort for an extra 5bhp :dontknow:

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Use the 1.3 engine & Carb with the 1.1 downpipe and 1.1 gearbox.

Couple of wires need changine to the carb depending on if a manifold heater and electro choke or anti dieseling valve is fitted.

Depending on the rear water rail you may have to blank of a stub.

Power may be a marginal increase but you get a bit more torque too..

is all the ancillaries the same, like starter and alternator, apart from the carb and a couple of wires, and is the 1.3 driver engine the same as the 1.3 from a mk2 polo? for the sake of trying to get an engine a few years younger, and slighly off topic, is the servo and master cylinder off a 1.8 8v mk2 a good setup for better brake power, and is the 16v one even better? cheers, jim

No the 8V servo/mater cylinder is no better.

The anciliaries can be swapped from your 1.1.

Not that much between the two to be worthy of it, my mate had a 1.1 that was faster than my 1.3 and I put a 1.1 in for a 1.3 when a scrap yard sold me the wrong engine, never noticed the difference.

I would imagine the 1.3 from the polo is a different kettle of fish however :)

As others have said it's not really worth it unless you use the later (post-86?) hydraulic engine which your Polo engine may be? This is more refined, more tunable and you're liekly to find a better example.
