Terenure Classic Car Show

Just a few pics from our club stand at the Terenure Classic Show.

Cars went down a treat - thanks to all who came.

Great show this yr, nice to meet with my fellow mk1 drivers once again. By the looks of it we should have a few more members join us at next yrs show!

Thanks to Hugh and others for making the big trip up to Dublin for this show, our little collection of Mk1's got a lot of attention.

I am looking forward to the visit to Kilkenny already.

Wow some amazing mk1's over the pond, weather looked good too!

Just as well Hugh had that tent or we would have got sun stroke!

If you think that was good wait till you see some of the cars showing up at Kilkenny for the Ireland event in August, we believe a RHD Mk1 GTD is showing up along with a nuts and bolts restoration of a 1979 series 1 GTI which we hope will be finished for then.

We will have our fingers crossed for a sunny weekend in Ireland on 27th and 28th Aug.

What's the name of the show Paul? Is it camping? Wouldn't mind popping over if the weather is good, make a little holiday out of it!

Its this one - our 'Ireland' region's annual weekend and tied in with a static display of over 40 mk1 golfs at a show in Kilkenny. lhasadreams Waterworx are in attendance.

Could you tell me did the RHD GTD make it to the show and do you know who owns it?

Hi James,

The owner of the Mk1 GTD is a very good friend of mine, he contacted VW and they told him that they never made a Mk1 GTD in RHD, he then sent them the Chassis number and they confirmed it was a RHD chassis number and not a LHD conversation, They told him it may have been a UK armed forces person living in Germany at the time who ordered and then changed the order to RHD before delivery.

The current owner's name is Killian Clissmann and he lives in Wicklow Ireland, if you pass me an e-mail address for you, I shall put you directly in touch with him.
