Wont go into gear

Lately my gear have been getting harder and harder to select and the other day when i stopped at a junction it just straight refused to go into gear. After 5 mins or so i managed to get 1st. Clutch cable adjusted and gears got easier for a few days then same thing happens again yesterday  Wouldnt select gear when i started it up. Managed to find 1st whilst the engine was off so started it up with foot on the clutch and it stalled
Again it sorted itself out eventually, but the whole journey my gears were a bit of a b$tch to select
Adjusted clutch cable again but I have to keep adjusting it at end of every journey to make it drivable, but there is now no play in the clutch pedal at all and its getting silly. Got stuck in traffic lights and had to pull away in lowest available gear… which was 3rd :banghead:
both times this has happened the engine has been pretty hot, dont know if that relevant
Recently had new clutch, clutch cable and release bearing fitted…

Any ideas   :dontknow:

Have you checked your gear linkage bushes? i believe these going is a common problem, also i had similar problem with regards to not selecting gears after i had put new gearbox in, in my case it was the gearstick not being set right (ie too far over to the left so 1st and 2nd were down with reverse) i just undid the 13mm pinch bolt under the car (next to heatshield near exhaust) adjusted it and tightened it back up and its been fine since. theres a guide in the technical bit on left hand side. good luck

ps the linkage kits are on ebay think i paid bout 25 quid cos i got new rods aswell

I had the exact same problem. £25 later and half an hour at the garage and it was fixed. The gear linkages had just slipped out position, so they realigned it and its all fixed.

hope this helps

Well it went to the garage and there was lots of play in part of the gear linkage. He replaced some bushes and one of the levers, but the problem is still there! It back at the garage so he can put it on the ramp and look again at the gear linkage, but becuase my clutch is dragging so badly could it be a clutch problem rather than linkage?
My release bearing was replaced recently but could it still be faulty/have dirt in it or something? I need the caddy to get to college tomorrow and the bills are piling up its taking the p$ss
Also I fitted a new clutch cable a month or 2 ago, its been fine up until now but it is a bit longer than my original one, and its not oem
Please someone help me out!
