Will Koni lowering springs for a GTi fit a 1.1? New Pics!!!

I'm looking at a set of springs from a koni suspension kit . They are for a 40mm drop on the GTi, so i presume that means a 60mm drop on a 1.1?
Will they fit my standard dampers?
Will they be vaguelly matched or will they be way too hard? or offer a rubbish ride?

thanks as usual in advance  :

The engine and gearbox on the 1.1/1.3 cars is a lot lighter than the 1.6/1.8 models, so you'll probably find that the springs only lower your car by about 20-30mm at the front and by about 40mm at the rear (the weight of the rear of the smaller-engine cars is more similar to the larger-engined cars).

This may give your car a silly-looking "stuff in the boot" appearance, unless you have shocks on the rear with adjustable ride-heights, but even that will just enable you to raise the rear up to match the (not that low) front - you won't get the lowered look that you want - sorry.

I had GTI Koni Shocks & Eibach springs in my 1.3 CL, after my brother gave me them from his GTI and, like I mentioned above, there was no lowering effect, but I can confirm that the ride was really good - a bit "choppy" around town (but not harsh and "crash/bang"), but on A-roads, B-roads and motorways, the ride was superb - really sharp and accurate, with great turn-in due to the lighter engine and gearbox. (I should mention that I also had 14" steel rims from a Mk2 driver with 185 x 60 x 14 tyres, and GTI anti-roll bars as well!)

If you want better handing, you should make the change, but if you want to loweer the car, you'll have to try and find 1.1/1.3 lowering springs (rare, if ever available?). By the way, don't be tempted to cut any springs, the results are never any good!

Thanks for the info . I'll leave the koni's and look for some 1.1 stuff then i think. I want to lower the car at least 40mm. I have seen some shock companies do 1.1 stuff . . .

Well, the springs fitted fine. They were 60mm shorter than the standards which was a worry, but they work fine.

Completely agree, handling is definitly improved so i'm happy!
The seller let me fit them before payment so i thought i'd give it a go. I'm keeping them as its lowered it about 25mm at the front and about 30mm at the back, but it looks even all round, and the handling thru the corners is way better!
