Once the car is up and running the next big thing to sort is the suspension on my MK1. I inherited the car with scene style coilovers which aren't going to be up to the job of handling a MK1 20v so I am currently researching different options….
I would really like a set KW V2's as these are generally regarded as top of the pile but at £1100 odd quid I can't stretch to it especially as I want a diff as well for the gearbox I think I have narrowed down my options through research and general surfing to about 3 or 4 choices around the £600 - £700 mark. I would be really interested to hear peoples thoughts on them especially if you have them on your MK1.
1) Gaz coilover set-up (Not the gold ones which are nigh on 1K)

2) FK Konig set-up

3) Weitecs………

4) D2 racing (relatively unknown in the VW world by the looks of it)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D2-RACING-SPORT-STREET-COILOVER-KIT-VW-GOLF-MK1-MK-I-1974-1985-Z1573-/230980734162?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35c7864cd2
Other suggestions/recommendations welcome

I'd give those D2 ones a go if they came with adjustable top mounts.
Other than that weitec as I've heard there made by KW

I would go for KW matey. Go for the inox V1 and don't worry about the set up unless your looking to track the car.

I opted for the Gaz ones in the end mate. Currently being made for me now. Got a great price on them with the adjustable top mounts. PM me if you want the details of where I got them and prices etc.

Any Koni gear available for it? They'd get my vote, along with H&R.

I went D2 racing in the end and I've had em fitted for about a week now only done about 30miles on them but so far I'm more than happy with them. I've adj the ride height 4times with ease and left the spring as it is. Got them on the softest shock setting as the hardest setting would surely leave me with broken ribs with the roads around me.

Right, Bear with me here….
Gaz are a very good mid range brand, I have set up a few super2000 cars with gaz units and all the older formula renault cars use gaz.
D2s are a bit of a odd one, I had some on my old track evo and they were shocking, seized within months, no rebuild service at the time. just a nightmare. Also the adjustment was a bit od, the steps in the adjuster werent equal, so set up and corner weighting was a big pain!
Weitec I have heard good things about.
I personally plan to go with Gaz on my car…..
