which gearbox?

im putting a 1.8 16v into my 1.1 'c'. which gearbox should i use? i think iv got a 1.6 gti gearbox in my shed would this be any good?..how can i tell if it is from a 1.6 gti? and how do i tell if its 4 or 5 speed?

Does the selector rod go directly into the box or is there a cross link?

Straight = 084/085 ( 4/5 speed )
Crosslink = 020 ( 5 speed )

As word working out the difference between the 84/85??

and the one to have  :wink: or a 9A

The 9a was fitted to the Campaigns only due to the MFA switch

thanks for the quik replys. il dig it out from the shed. is thr anything i can do to see if its still in good working order?

so what would have been fitted to a normal 1.8 GTI?
