Which Coilovers...

As the subject line suggests im looking for some new coilovers and just wanted to know your views on which ones i should buy. I've been looking at some weitec coilovers as they arent mentally priced lol. Would be good to hear your views and expriences.

Im in the same boat. Im looking at investing in some coilovers that are good value for money. I dont really want to spend over ?300.
Im looking into some FK's but unsure to choose them or not. Can any dub lover recommend on choosing the best coilover kit?

I have used Bilstein and KW on other cars which have been mostly tracked based, the coilovers were not exactly cheap.

Are you sure you want coilovers?….my understanding on here is that the ideal set up for road and light track on the mk1 is Koni sports with eibach springs.

You seem to get what you pay for with coilovers and unless you want the car seriously low or to take it to a smooth track then perhaps a moderate coilover such as FK is fine, if you are going seriously low, then the ride would no doubt suffer badly, so it may well be a waste to spend out on top range kits.
What is the attraction or requirements for coilovers?

Accepting the compromises of a vastly lowered car, I've had Weitec coilovers on for 2-3 years now and can give them a big thumbs up. I've not driven other cars with different coilovers though.

I just want my mk1 to sit lower than it is. My reason for coilovers is to adapt the height of the car if i decide to change the wheels.

I must admit in terms of handling of a mk1 golf's stock suspension its brilliant.

my trackcar runs FKs and its ok on the road, they arent too harsh.

when you raise and lower the hieght of the car dont forget you will need the tracking re doing each time otherwise it will eat tyres.
