wheels/suspension 17 s with lowered springs

my daughter :banghead: has bought 17ins alloys fitted with 205 40 nankangs,to go on her 82 small bumper 1500 cab, they fit ok on the rear,et ok etc this is with 60 mm lowering springs, but will rub on front arch lip on down travel ,almost touch static.dont want to mod arches or fit stock springs (quote, will look like efin range rover)will coil overs raise enough to clear?dampers need replacing anyway.

tell her she has no taste. remove the wheels and the car from her possesion and get her a scooter.

sorry that was harsh.
17" wheels really do not suit mk1 golfs. biggest i've seen that looks ok is 15".

sell the wheels.
if you must run 17"s even 30mm drop will rub. sorry.

oh and tell her that the 17" inch wheels make it look like a landrover anyway.

I ran 16s for a very short time - read 1 week - due to issues and mine was hardly lowered, tbh the best bet is go to 15s and keep an eye on the offsets and rim widths.

Daily - 05 plate B6 A4 Avant S Line, with 19s for the summer.. wifes car - Rare Seat Exeo ST Sport 170 Tech
Weekend - MK2 20vt monster - Plus a mk1 caddy I am fixing for my bro
