Wheel Setup...Help please???
Currently im running 15x7 wheels but want that wider look with stretched tyres. Ive seen the wheels i want from midland wheels….
And this is my current setup….
The new wheels are 15x8…will i need wheel spacers to move them right out or will the extra inch be sufficient?
What tyre size should i go for also for the strech look?
Any info would be great

For a strech look on 7's you could try running 165/50/15 on your existing rims and a set of hubcentric spacers to push 'em out a bit.
Set of spacers will be about £100.

White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

I didnt even know i had a reply and have already ordered some of the new compomotive th-mono black with diamond cut,
think theyre exactly like the ones in your pics 8O
Ive got them in 15x8 and am going to put my current 195/50/15's on as thats the width rimstyle reccomend.
Will the extra inch push the wheels to the edge of the arch or will i need spacers still???
The et is 25
The wheels arent due for another 2 weeks as theyre still getting made at compomotive!!!

Hopefully your rim's will fit better than mine, my inner lip is sat below the spring platform without spacers, it would eat the front tyres.
Downfall of coilovers on the front!
I'm sure rimstyle will have given some good advice, they are a big player.
I'll have 185/45/15 on my rims, so there won't be a huge stretch, and hopefully I'll not end up with rim edges like me Ma's biscuit cutter!
p.s. you need to click on watch topic for reply's!

Another thing is is the wheel arch lining, the rear wheels sit quite low and im worried if that extra inch width
will make the wheels rub on the outer arch on the clipper kit…if it does would it be stupid to remove the linings??
I was confused like, rimstyle advise to put 195's on an 8in rim so does that mean they sell wheels with stretch on?
Im sure your setup will be good, im like you…i like the stretch look but not if the rim looks rediculous! To me it looks
like the tyre could come off really easily!!!
Cheers for that, i'll click on watch topic from now on! haha

You may find that you have an issue with your front coils. I have mine wound down and that leaves the front spring and platform sitting behind the wheel and causing some nasty rubbing on the inner side of the tyre. This is due to the coilover design and can't really be helped. Only option I have is to space them out or raise the car. The latter won't be happening.
As for stretch, I'm not a fan, It does look cool, however It's not for me. I would't trust them to stay in place.

And as I suspected it's all gone pete tong
I was un able to get the front wheel on due to coil overs. As I thought the extra diameter of the springs caused the tyre to foul, so much so that the wheel could not be turned.
I put the spacers on and that cured that problem, Spacers are now also fitted to the rear of the car and there will def be a problem with the rear arches catching the tyres.
The rear is running 20mm extra, which would roughly equate to an 8" rim without the spacer, so I think work will be needed for your new rims dude…. :dontknow:

My wheels finally came yesterday…i was going to wait till after the MOT to fit them incase they
needed work but after 30mins of looking at them i couldnt resist.
The stretch looks good, nothing too radical…the fit is tight but exactly what i was after, slight rubbing over big dips in the road
Thanks for all the help!!!
Have a look…what do you all think???
