wheel concerns? still. HELP

put the p-slots on the car tonight (piccys later) but the new wheel bolts i have dont seem right they dont tighten up like they should and feel more like there pulling though the wheel. i think there the wrong taper. should i be worried. i'm going to put the steel wheel bolts in except the locking nut will this be ok?.

i've never changed wheels to alloys before so dont know what to expect.

If you have changed from steel wheels to P slots, you need to make sure that the bolts are long enough. I brought my wheel bolts from the VW main dealer.

Alloys should have a conical tapper, whereas steels use a radiused face.
With the wheel on, find the point where the thread catches, and count how many complete turns til it tightens.
Should be at least 7, pref ~10.

Check the alloys tappers to check no-one has tried to wind radiused bolts into it - not good.

a bit confused on this one,

I thought the reason a lot of after market locking nuts say they are not suitable for OEM alloy wheels was because the wheels are not connical tapper seats like most after market alloys.

ie original wheels should take a radius nut.

Sorry I know I am adding confusion to this, I have just checked a number of le castellet alloys I have and they do look to be radius seats.

apologies if I am wrong.

Good point, and i have heard that, but never actually seen any.
First thing to do would be to check the seats out and ensure you have the correct bolts to suit.

Then do the windy in bit…….

they look like conicals to me. (mk2 p-slots) the bolts i bought were to long (at least with the taper) and touched the rear brakes which is not fun when you start to back out of the drive and it stops. can anyone who runs p-slots confirm they are are conical?
might have to stop in vw any idea on prices?
