what gear boxes fit a 1.8 8v gti cabio

hey peeps got a problem, basicly im renewing my inner drivers side cv joint as the toothed dome washer broke up and mashed it all up. problem is ive just got a cv joint from gsf and nothing matches up. i.e
the 6 x 12point 8m bolts have a bigger offset than the one i took off
and all in all the replacement i bought is bigger (although the same type just bigger)
it fooled me up to the point i tried to put the cir clip on as the inner bearing race was too big to allow me to put the cir clip on.

this leads to to think gsf have either cocked up or my gear box is not the 1.8 one.
another reason i could have the wrong box is because my friends 1.8gti mk2 8v is stupidly faster than my dear old mk1 haha. is there any way of checking i have the right box.

any help guys/gals shes my daily so stuck off the road atm

i put a mk2 1.6 box in mine, just canged the driveshaft flanges and that was it.

they have supplied a later cabby/rocco/mk2 golf 100mm flange, and you need a 90mm flange is all
