No down sides what so ever.

To make your own just get a round bar around 4 inches long and 3/4 inch thick, cut a slot down it, place your standard rod into the slot and weld it up…..job done :wink:

There was a web page (USA I think?) that showed how to do it and from memory they used jubilee clips to attach it instead of welding it on??

Just put one on my mk2 yesterday. Must be the quickest mod to do, litterally 1 minute job!
Although I must say that i didnt notice that much difference :dontknow: Felt a little easier to get 'in' gear but barely noticable. I'm gonna try on the mk1 once its running again.

Dont bother paying for one, i got 2 from the scrappies for peanuts.  8)

The MK2/3 ones are too short.

Ah! Good point, well made. Didnt think anything to do with a mk1 could be that easy!
 
TBH, just got back from a 'spirited' drive and it is a little more noticable then I may have stated before.

good link! quick shift and shift weight for ?20 delivered from the US, cant be bad. the only think i dont get is the A1,A2,A3 thing. any ideas, i fancy ordering one but want to get the right one!

blakie u say you got the from the scrappies, what cars it come of? were they of mk1's? tkae it the gti ones are diffrent from the smallblockones, and can i have oneon mine as i have put the polo gt lump inmine.
