What brakes have i got!?

I am running discs on the front and drums on the back as per standard, except when i took my alloy off last night i noticed that I have two physical discs on each axle like a dual disc..

is this standard or is this a mod?

2 discs on each axle, of which there are 2 on a 4 wheeled car. Or 2 on each hub? Are you sure you're not just looking at ventilated discs?

If there are discs on the back , it is definitely a mod.

How many calipers or brake lines? There is a disc, and a thin backing plate.

Here's some pics of what GTI brakes should look like.

Old and rusty (before replacement):

With camber gauge attached (spot the deliberate error!)

With caliper removed:

Yes its deliberate!

The camber tool used here needs the car to be supported on its wishbones.

And the top anti-rattle spring is missing.

That was deliberate! After struggling for ages, I deliberately didn't fit this. Its a cunning weight-saving measure too, whats more its unsprung weight so it handles so much better too.

Yes, the deliberate error was a fairly easy one - the suspension wasn't taking the weight of the car, therefore the camber measured, didn't relate to the camber with the weight on the wheels.

Yep, I just checked back to the previous page and you spotted it first. I really wasn't expecting anyone to spot the lack of anti-rattle spring, that's 100%!
