What brakes do I have? 1.5..

Hi all, I have a 1981 1.5 Golf GLS and I'm wondering what brakes are on this please? Just bought the car and it's sat at home while I'm in Sheffield so I can't take a look at it.

I'm putting a KR engine into it so I need to upgrade the brakes! Will I face any difficulties with it not being a Gti regarding brakes? (including any problems at the engine side?)

you should have the mk1's useless teeves callipers, characterised by the slotted pad retaining plate on the front and the small square pads.

Most people opt for the vw2 callipers off the series 2 gti, wich has vented discs. you'll then want to swap your servo and master cylinder, but theres a guide for that under technical over to your left!

A lot use vauxhall sri callipers too but I don't think theres much difference over the 16v gti setup?
