very random clunk from the drive shaft (passanger side)

sup guys
was in the mk1 the other day enjoying the sun when all of a suddern a very weird clunking noise started from the driveshaft.
Ive ad it up on the jack n when the wheel is rotated (with or without being turned by the steering wheel) the wheel starts fairly easy to rotate then gets harder till it almost stops, then as it goes past this point it almost raises the coilover a tad then lets go and rotates freely…..
Any ideas as im a tad baffled till i get the driveshaft out

Outer cv joint?  Steering rack?

the rack seems fine but ill give the cv a once over!

probably a broken cage/bearing in the cv, all good fun!
