Vauxhall 280mm question

i have fitted to my mk1 the calipers from a vectra gsi with the vauxhall 57/25 calipers which where 288mm discs.

Am i right in thinking when i fit 280mm VW discs and the vauxhall pads there will be 8mm of pad overlap not touching the disc ??

Or will this setup work fine ??  8O  8O
