Use of speedy sleeve

Use of speedy sleeve:

Hi, I have a 1992 1.6 golf 1 with an automatic gearbox. After my recent engine overall, the gearbox started to leak despite having replaced the old one when I did the overall. I got a second seal replaced via a friend who advised me that the torque converter shaft had a wear & it will start to leak again. I am advised to use a speedy sleeve to rectify this problem.  Has any one tried this method. Please help

Hi mate I work on hgv's and we use speedy sleeves all the time. Basically the shafts we fit them onto usually wear on one point. We remove the shaft and rough up the worn area then tap the speedy sleeve over the worn section. The sleeves we use have a collar on which you use to tap the sleeve onto it's position. Once the sleeve is over the worn part of the shaft we break off the collar leaving the main part of the sleeve covering the worn area and allowing the seal to have something to seal onto. I hope this helps mate

thank you for the prompt reply. I will give it a try. A mate has just helped to remove the gearbox & we are going to get the various other parts checked. One again thank you. :)
