Tyres for a set of 13" Trantulas?

My mk1 needs two new tyres, though i'm thinking of replacing all four as the current ones are some Chinese re-moulds put on by the last owner.

Current tyre size is 185x60x13, but can I fit something with a lower profile?
Any suggestions? What is everyone else running?

tyres are like mini skirt the smaller they are the moe they cost.

from memory i think 55's should be on 13's for the correct speedo reading. any lower you will read the wrong speed.

seen 45's on them but they look daft far to small.

175/70 is factory standard  size. 185/60 is near enough. as said, they get dearer as you go down the profiles. i wouldn't go any more than 185 on a 5.5 rim. pretty sure 175/50/13 are a standard size for the original minis' so they may be a more affordable option for low profiles. will throw the speedo out and affect top speed and motorway/cruizing speeds will be at higher revs. acceleration will be a bit quicker though.
