Tyre recommendations

Well it's come to that time (just did a 180…thankfully on an empty road) that I should possibly change and upgrade my tyres.  Looking to spend around £200 max for the set and wondering if people have any recommendations (195/50/R15).  2 that have caught my eye so far are pirelli p6000 and Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2.  I do about 2000 miles a month so what something pretty hard wearing, but also pretty high performance as I do like to push the car (how can you not?).  Grateful for any thoughts :)

Well the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 seems to be getting rave reviews.  Anyone had them on a mk1?

I've used nothing but Uniroyal since I got the Mk1 in 1995. I've got Rain Experts now, (I couldn't get Rainsport 2's in 185/60/14) and I can't fault them. The steering is light for a Mk1 and they grip well in the wet and dry, there's also less road noise than with the old Rallye 550's that I had before. We've also got a MK3 with the Rainsport 2's and they're excellent as well.

I've opted for the Rainsports after reading non-stop rave reviews n what's been said here…got them £195 for 4 with fitting etc so it was hard to say no…will let you know how they go once they're fitted

That's a bargain! I can't get one decent tyre on my RX8 for that! Another reason I love my MK1

Well that's where they came from…

Surely there are 101 reasons to love your Mk1, particularly over a nice reliable Mazda!?

Yip.you think to your self, what could possibly go wrong? But a tyre fitter out fit bent my sill last year.lasted nearly 30 years with straight sills until that monkey jacked the motor up.the 3 ton jack must of caught a stone

I use these on my Leon Cupra R running 280 BHP and they are fantastic, it gives the LCR grip levels similar to my old Evo 5 that was on PZero's.
Unless any one has a bad experience on the MK1 I think they will be what's going on mine, it would be great to hear some feed back from anyone who has them fitted ?
