Tie Rods

Steering rack tie rods… One side is solid with no adjustment (N/S?) and the other is adjustable (O/S?)… Question is, can I fit adjustable tie rods to both sides or are they different lengths, threads, etc
Cheers.

Is the car a work in progress or have you been using it on the roads with the tracking not yet set?

from what I have read throughout the forum, the tie rods with no adjustment are original factory fit and can be replaced with adjustables. cheers guys

Paul C, I once set my traking by eye after lowering it and setting negitive camber, got it put on the 4 wheel alignment and it was within tolerance for tracking. a bit more luck than judgement tho I wreckon.

Normally you can get it pretty good by eye, and if you don't/can't feel any unusual handling characteristics, its going to be pretty close and also safe enough. The only concern I'd have is if it were left like that, causes tyre wear.

I work on the car in the back garden (with an access road and gate) but need to drive round to the front of the house for a flat piece of road where I can check the tracking (using a Gunson Trakrite) and occasionally I've done it with out-of-adjustment tracking, you can definitely feel the effect of it and I'd not want to drive much further than the 100 yards or so round the corner!
