Suspension

Hi I've got a 91 cabby and I've replaced both rear springs recently but ever since I've had the car every time I go over a pothole or small bump it sounds like the wheels on passenger side are coming through the car! Replaced the rear springs cos they have cracked could this be something to do with it? The wheels?which are 17"! The bouch on suspension is correct! Any advice please??

Hate to say it but 17'' wheels are a bit of a no-no on a mk1 golf for various reasons.
Is the suspension lower than standard (on lower springs)?
