Suspension

Hello people,
Can anyone recommend a suitable set up for my suspension, currently running on cheap coilovers and it's back braking!!! On a reasonable budget too if possible?
Thanks in advance, Darren. :D

Go for KW coilovers. I had some on my Corrado I sold last month for my mk1. My mate has some on his Audi S2 and we can't fault them. They do three sorts version 1,2 and 3. 3 are the most expensive. We both had V1 and they are brill. There is a guy selling a second hand set of V2's on here for £600 hardly used. Also on them you can choose between the standard or inox line. Basically the inox line won't rust. The standard V1's are £475 and the inox are £625. If you fancy the inox go for the ones I mentioned for sale as they are a good price. If your car lives in the garage like mine the basic ones for £475 will be spot on and you can just spray some white grease over them to preserve them. I will be putting some of these on next year. It seems like a well prepared reply but I researched this a few months ago for my last car as I did not want to go wrong.

Thanks for the advice, sounds as though you've put some research in. I shall have a look into these, thanks again.
oh just one question, how hard/harsh is the ride? Would like to keep some comfort as current ride is terrible!

No matter how you phrase it. If you lower your car or put coilovers on it will make the ride harder and stiffer as your reducing the suspension travel and softness. I had cheap coilovers on my last mk2 golf and again on the Corrado and it was back breaking. Not much better on my new mk1. However when I changed to the KW on the Corrado, well I have driven harsher new cars. I can't emphasise enough how good they were. You can also look at Weitec they are made by the same company but apparently softer and cheaper. However I have not tried them nor have I had contact with anyone who has tried both and that's the problem. Without one person who has tried all the makes available you will never know. I can only say now I am in my 30's I want good handling but comfort too and I will be going back to the KW and will stick with the non inox basic as (a) I don't drive the car in the wet and (b) the more expensive version of KW allow you to alter the rebound and let's face it KW got it right and altering the set up is only good for racing. So I can only advise on what I am going to do myself as I found it the best compromise between handling and comfort.

Kw would get my vote. Have driven a few cars with them namely Focus RS's and they are very nice. But they are ££££.
