Stretch tire help /info required please

Im getting my wheels next week! wooooohooooo!   
I will need some tires for them, I want stretch but nothing ott, unreliable or unsafe.
I know nothing about tires and have never had stretched tires before so I am finding choosing the right size for the look I want difficult.
my wheels are 7j wide. Saw a pic of 165/65/15 that looked pretty cool but my mate who works as a tire fitter said that they would be dangerous, they most likely would'nt seal properly and might fall of the rim when driving. I thought sod that then.
Any one here fitted stretched tyres to a 7inch rim before? what size did you get? what were they like? If any one has any pics to post that would be helpful aswel.

Tyres !!! Damn those across the pond are ruining our language !!

Best advice is don't stretch them.
Stretch = dangerous.
The law is confused on them though.
Manufacturers advise you not to do it.

You have 7" wide rims, so that is approx 178mm
So 185x50x15 would be a good choice.
You could go for 45 series, speedo will read wrong though, but not by much.

I've got 7j wheels and the tyres I have fitted (at the moment) are 165/50/15 and they are awful to drive with! They look cool, but must be pumped up higher than normal due to stretch and as a result are very hard! Pics available in wheels for sale- lenso 15".

185 look good and drive good but are a hard size to find with a decent brand.
