Strange clicking noise???

Have just taken my 84 MK1 Golf GTi for a drive, the first time since Nov 09, however i have found a really strange clicking noise as if there is a stone in the tyre, have checked that and there is nothing, i have also had it on the jacks and spun the wheel and theres no clicking. The noise is there when i speed up and the clicking just gets faster. My thinking is outer CV, just wondered if anyone has had any experience with this problem.

It wasn't doing this when i put it away for the winter?

Any help is much appreciated.

speedo cable maybe??

I had clicking in reverse on my old one, it was the nearside caliper, the pads were jumping cos of a loose clip, my mechanic sorted it so can't tell youmuch more than that

Ive had this one myself, bit of greese on the back and its solved

clicking in cv joints tends to only be on full lock
if it gets faster when u drive could be chiped tooth in gearbox
