steering knocking?

when i turn the wheel in my 83mk1 golf gti there is a slight knocking? would this be bearings or? not quite sure tbh if someone can let me know what is needed to solve this problem? thanks

if it s doing it on full lock i'd say the cv boot

could be track rod or cv joint. go on full lock and if it knocks its a cv joint. (speed up and slow down with out brake) could take the wheel off and see if there is any play in the track rod end
