Bump stops and the plastic dust shield cones.

Why are you replacing the springs?

All look old, and not to expensive, so thought may as well do the lot.

The car's old but you are not going to replace it?

Pattern springs will be generic and prob wrong for your model unless you get genuine VW.

I'd save the £ and only replace if broken, usually end coil broken.

There's only 3 bits that wear out, damper(insert), top mount and bump stop. Corrosion can rust through the front strut or rear top mount. If doing rears get some replacement lower bolts as they are nearly always rusted in and need sawing off.  Make sure front top mounts are FEBI brand.

If going to trouble doing fronts I'd also replace the rear shocks, with the same type/brand as the front.

Pretty straight forward barring any seized lower bolts, don't even need to compress springs at rear.

If your original plan was to leave rears it was crazy to want to replace front springs with pattern parts. You'd end up with a right mix and match setup.

This is when we did DJheaps fronts a few years back;

That's great, thanks again. The reason for only replaceing the front is that the previous owner has replaced the rear already (2 years ago), why the front wasnt done at the same time i have no idea.
The link is exactly what i'm after and will be a great help.
Cheers
