Sportline BBS alloys on GTI Cabriolet issue?

Hi after some advice, bought a set of Sportline BBS RA alloys with 195/50/15 tyres to fit on the 88 GTI Cabriolet, but they are fouling the coil overs. Are Sportlines different to stock GTI Cabriolets is anybody else running them and can recommend a tyre size.

Many thanks,

Shouldn't it be running 185?

Yes did a search on the forum and it appears that stock sportlines ran 185/55/15 and that might be the answer. Just strange as lots of posts saying they are running 195/50/15 and the guy I bought them off was running them on his sportline ?

I run 195 45 15 with no issues on a 40mm drop.

Suspecting its a coilover issue they are the Hottuning ones, the original wheels are 6J 14's with 185/60 on and they rub too the BBS are 6.5J 15 with 195/55 going down to 195/45 dont thing will make a difference and dont thing 185/55 will be enough might have to go to a 175

185/55 or 195/55 are stock size for 15" wheels on a MK1. sounds like you just need to fit some thin spacers to avoid the wheel hitting the coilover, this is a common issue with certain wheel offset and suspension combos

just find random bits of wood/metal to stick between the wheel and hub, just need it so you can lower the car to check for clearance issues. the wheel should still centre ok on the hub so it wont fall off or anything unless you go above 10mm thickness. id imagine you wont need more than 10mm though :)

Thanks again rubjonny I am going to try with 5mm spacers so going to need longer wheel bolts.

I take it the stock bolts are radius M12x1.5x23.5 so I guess I am going to need something like M12x1.5x28 so any recommendations for wheel bolt suppliers.
