Spongy brakes after new brake parts.

I have reconditioned my front calipers with new seals, discs and pads. fitted new rear compensator, made and fitted new brake pipes, fitted goodridge hoses all round, new bleed nipples.
Fully flushed out system with new fluid.
No leaks in any joints.
Used pressurised ezy bleed and 1 way bleed hoses on nipples.
Also tried 2nd person working brake pedal.
Cable tied fully open the rear compensator valve.
No more air coming out of bleed nipples.
Servo and MC in good condition.
Bleed rear right, rear left, front right then front left brakes.
But still got a spongy pedal, which is worse when the engine/servo is on.

Any advice guys?

check you have the front calipers on the right way round, the bleed nipple should be at the highest point of the caliper piston area. same with rear calipers if fitted :)

Yeah the are the right way up :D
Would be pretty hard to put them the wrong way round as the hoses wouldnt fit and be kinked  :o

Any more thoughts guys?
Does the servo or master cyclinder need to be bled?

it shouldnt need to be no, are the front brakes working ok on both sides, check piston moves out properly when you give it some boot

The car kust passed its MOT this morning, the tester said the brakes felt spongy but both front and rear calipers are giving good pressure.
Very shocked as i took the car out for a test run last night and it was taking ages for the car to stop.
I fitted black diamond discs and pads and thought they would bed in quite quickly abviously not :?

I will just have to get round to fitting my upgraded servo and MC soon…….once i figure out how to get a brake switch fitted.

how is the vacuum feed to the servo? my brakes felt awesfull no matter how many times i bled them. then i realised non-return valve was on the wrong way, DOH :lol:

The servo is working fine, as there is pressure when the engine is off and when you start it the pedal pressure drops slightly when you start the engine….thus showing its doing its job.
The vacum feed was never removed anyway.

You have all the right kit and are doing the right things, so I can only assume you're doing it wrong :-( bleed the brakes very carefully and slowly and see if it makes a difference.

i have had the same promblem as you did 280s  front mk4calipers bck 9/servo 22mc  goodridge hoses all round after fitting them they were spongey as hell,so adjusted the bar at back which i think made my brakes lock on ,we cracked a nut on the m/c and it let out so much air so hoping it was that ,how did you get on pal?
