apparantly it's a 1.6 gti cable well that's what my mate seems to have narrowed down to, however he can't find anywhere that sells it anymore, Gsf were no use
I'm stuck here as I'm trying to sell the thing and this has just happened, bloody typical help is desperately needed

I imagine it must be either a Mk1/2 cable for it to go in the clocks, pretty sure no others fit.
O2A is a pretty common box, best get a pic up as mentioned earlier mate!

Have you thought of trying the cabby one??
Projekt Frustration :
White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

Was just thinking the cabby ran along side the mk2 for several years and we all know what the VAG group are like for using "the parts bin"
I have one of my car as it's not working, maybe able to get some pics if that helps.

yeah sound mate, the pictures I have seen on big boys toys of mk1 speedo the gear box connection looks like a smooth metal piece that slots in. mine has the thread with a metal round cap at the end that screws on top of the gearbox

The cabby one is the slot in type, held in with a random sized bolt, so I think this is where the difference lays.
The speedo end is a round clip type thing with a small square drive into the back of the gauge sounds like you need a mk2 cable…

its a smallblock cable you need for an 02a gearbox. if it has MK2 clocks you need late spec 1.3 mk1, or mk2 1.0-1.3 may fit but you'll probably need to change the bulkhead grommets

Guys thankyou so much for all your replies, once the cables back home ill load up a picture just to confirm, working nights does suck at times, so hard to find time to get down to GSF and ask them if they had some of the cables mentioned in stock
Cheers Quinny
