slipping out of 5th and 3rd and a whole host of problemos...
:redfaced:
I have had my clipper cab 1.8 for 2 years now 'Brucie' it has always been difficult get it into gear mainly 1st and crunches everytime rev. is selected. I have now noticed that it is slipping out of 5th and jumping (viciously) out of 3rd. There is also a lot of whirring noises coming from the box
It had a new clutch fitted at a local garage about a year ago - been told that the clutch might have gone can this be so??????
- Another incident occured when i selected reverse the other day and the car juped backwards and the clutch started smoking eek. I have had a few people mention the release bearing to me too???
…And then sometimes all is well - very frustrating!
Defo need to change the gearlinkage and bushes as i can literaly move the gearstick around in a circle when its in gear! but could there be a major problem with the gearbox/clutch/both
All these suggestions i dont know where to start!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers for any suggestions

Other than that, if it is noisy, has it got any oil in it? :dontknow:
There is a a plug on the end (passenger side) of the box that you should be able to take out. The oil should be "up to" that level, IE, it spills out if there is too much. If you put your finger in the hole and you can't feel any oil, you need more…

when i fill them i do it via the speedo cable hole, but if you can get a cunning arrangement of pipes and funnel can do it thru the level/filler hole. when you remove the speedo cable be very carefull! dont catch the gear on the edge of the hole or you risk popping it off into the box.
also when refitting take care as the end of the gear has to pop into a little hole, which is fiddly to get right will take wiggling and twisting to get it all dropped in nice. if you dont get it in the hole the cable wont sit flush and you'll loose the speedo readout too
