Scraping on arches! Ouch

I've had my car about 9 months now and I'm getting fed up with the rear tyres rubbing (being shredded more like) on the arches when I go over a bump.
As far as I can remember the guy who sold me the car said it's been lowered by 30mm it's got 15" mim deep dish alloys with toyos on and boge turbo dampers.

A mate of mine who owned a couple of mk1 gti's a long time ago said that all I need is to fit some bump stops. Would this be the best hing to do. If so TSR sell some. Would they be OK?

hello mate, i found the same problem with mine. i had a seat ibiza with 16's that would do that and then when it was written off i fitted em to the mk1 and found that they would scrape even driving!
couple things you can do, i suppose one and the most expensive would be to change the tyres to low profile ones.
another is to use the bump stops, probably cheapest and easiest solution, and it works.
third thing to do is flare out the wheel arches, this can be done with a hammer and does not sound as bad as im making out. i done it, WITH GREAT CARE!! and it adds a wider look to the arches as well as good clearance.
or u can do what i did….. all 3 :)
some new ronal turbo alloys with 145 tyres rather than 150's give it perfect clearance….. and my mk1 has been dropped by 40mm

hope i was of some help.
