Scraping noise when turning left, please help!
Hi all
This is my first post, i've owned my mk1 cabby for 6 months and she's costing me a fortune! having just passed her mot she's now making a horrid scraping noise. This only happens when i turn the steering wheel fully to the left. I would really appreciate some advice as i adore the car and want to keep her up together and on the road.

sounds like a cv joint, theres 2, one gearbox end the other wheel end of the driveshaft, not too expensive to replace, parts 20/30ish
double check theres not the remnants of a cokecan or dead bird up in the arch tho eh!

yeah, sounds right to me.
Park you car on full steering lock and have a look at the rubber boots on the drive shafts. If they are split, corroded or come away, that will cause the grease to get washed away from the CV joint and cause your symtoms.

Thank you for your prompt advice, i'll get my dad to help me check the cv joints tomorrow and make sure there's nothing stuck in the arch.

it may be hard to identify the cv (if it is that) if the boots are intact, ie to pass the mot.
jack it up and spin the wheel then try it at hard lock, its more likely to be the wheel end one tbh.
tho i truly thought an outer cv was going and it turned out to be a wheel bearing, all the symptoms were the same, so wiggle the wheel back and forth to check for wheel bearing play as well.
