Saggy back end
My back end sags despite a new set of springs-I can discount shocks and bumpstops because the weight of the car should be taken solely by the springs.
The car sags really badly when full of fuel and a 9st person+ shopping on the rear seat.
The replacements for my old broken pair came from GSF, is there a difference between front and rear, could front ones have been fitted by mistake?
So what gives?

hi mate, what do you mean sagging? like sloppy back end? 8O the front ones could not have been fitted accidentally as they are different. are the shocks/ springs standard? are the dampers knackered? have you got mis-match shockers/dampers? when u say they have been replaced which bit?

I'd also suggest new socks, and also the funny shaped bump rubber mount that fits on top of the suspension, inside the rear turrets - if they are old and past it they squash rather a lot - cured mine when she looked like this (WITHOUT any weight in the back - put ANYTHING in back and it really squatted):

Ok, dampers and bumpstops have nothing to do with ride height because the weight of the vehicle is carried by the springs. Not the damper nor the bumpstop.
I suspect that GSF supplied tintop rear springs because they have a much softer rating (the cab weighs more)

I think every Mk1 I have ever seen with shopping in the boot and a person in the back seat looks like this mate…

Incidently, Jetta and Mk1 Cabrio's share the part number. GPC can supply but at almost the same cost as a VW dealer at approx. ?55 per spring so no advantage there.
I did mention that the springs had been changed after I found that both sides were broken-the bumpstops were replaced as a matter of course.
The cab still handles OK and we drove across the Pyrennes this June through the twistys without drama. However, I prefer not to drag the back end along the deck and it was a bloody waste of money fitting the wrong springs-thanks GSF!
