Replacing brakes ona Mk1

Hi Volks,
Need to replace all the brakes/lines on a Mk1 - discs, calipers, hard lines, flexi lines, drums, pads etc. Where is the best place to get parts from?
Cheers,
Neil

As above, but when they give you 2 different prices, it will be for a cheap set and a quality set. I'd get the quality stuff - ATE for example. Or at least, a known brand. Buy cheap, buy twice!

Alright Neil, getting started then :D

Another one for you to consider is John Austin in Stanway.

dont think gsf sell solid lines! but any good motor factors will sell you it think i paid a ?10 for 5 meters and the fittings are dirt cheap 40p each. you'll need a flareing tool which can be bought from machine mart for 18quid. and bend it by hand (very carfully so as not to damage lines)

So nowhere sells kits with the fittings already on?

This is how I did my *cough* camper *cough* (I don't want to offend with the mention of aircooled…)

Automec do a complete set of brake lines, which will have the ends already fitted. It would arrive coiled up, and you'd need to bend & shape the lines are required.

Sounds promising - bending is not a problem - got a mate who is a plumber and therefore got access to pipe bending equip. Any website/contact details for these guys?

seems to work. But OUCH ?60 for a full set of hard lines…..sems a bit steep.

May end up getting a flaring tool and making my own at that price.

I took my old ones off and took them to a local garage - they made up some new ones for me the correct length with the correct fittings - cost me ?20  :)
