Replace inner tie rod, help

I need to replace the inner tie rod on my 83 cabby, its worn.
Is this a ok jobb to tackle for a hobby mechanic? Or do i need special tools?

Tips on how-to proceed is appreciated :-)

pretty simple really, in fact i would suggest you may want to take the rack off the car completely and replace the lot at the same time, but if that seems a bit scarey its pretty accessible with rack in situ.  get yourself a brown haynes manual, its a god send
