rear brakes

just bought myself a gti. its had all new rear brakes fitted not so long ago.
under heavy braking the rear locks up, which as you can imagine is not fun at high speed..

so any ideas on how to solve this?

I had this where the rears used to lock up, good fun when ya want it but not so much when you don't. Brakes are usually set up something like 60% front and 40% rear. If you rears are locking up then they might be more like 50/50 or 40/60. Most garages have a machine that can ammend this, mine cost me ?40 to be put right and now only the fronts lock up  :lol:

look under the car in front of the rear near side wheel, you will see a leaver and a spring attached to the rear beam and has brake lines going in to it… this is the rear compensator.

undo the 13mm nut and bolt where the springs attached to the rear beam with the car on the ground, and allow this to sit in its natural position with no tension on it, then do the bolt back up and see how it goes,

it will be clear when you look under the car  :lol:  :oops:
