Rattle kinda noise.

It might be nothing but I thought I'd ask.

I'm getting a sort of rattle on taking up drive in gear. You can hear t mostly during mid revs when you come off the gas as go on it again sharply. You also get it when changing from 1st to 2nd.

It's not that bad and I'm not exactly sure how long it's been doing it but I heard it on Friday last week and have been keeping an eye on it since.

Any ideas much appreciated.

It could be the bearing in the diff, mine rattled like mad when I took my foot off the power >.<

I hope it's not though!

do you have a front lower strut brace fitted?

if so check for signs of contact, bright metal etc. Could just be a bit of movement on the mountings as you apply the gas.

I don't have a lower brace fitted, shame really!

I listened closely this morning with the roof off and it seams like it's only audible when the engine's warmed up.

Tell me it's not the gearbox on the way out, I couldn't face it!

Is it def coming from the drivetrain? Wouldn't be something simple like loose exhaust shield??

Nice thought really but I don't think so, I'll check it at the weekend to see if I can find anything lose, fingers crossed

It's quite odd really, cause when you take up drive it tightens everything up a little so the sounds dissapearing.

But when it's warm oil pressure is increased so if anything I would have though it could help!

Let us know how you get on anyways!

Can't argue with that! To be honest I'd have thought that too. I was planning to get the car up on the jack this weekend anyway so while I'm there I'll have a look and see if something's lose, can't check too much when it's hot though.

It may be worth checking the C clips on the exhaust which join the manifold to the exhaust pipe, they become loose and rattle intermitantly. Had same prop with mine ! Until they fell off !! OOPS !!!!! thats when you need the lower strut.
