quick reply needed for steering wheel removal

Anyone tell me what size socket i need to remove the steering wheel ? I want to do it in the next hour or so and dont want to be buying half a dozen sockets for one job.

thats amazing that is exactly what i was gong to say and i mean exactly. same size as the top mount bolts from what i remember.

They are all 24mm, same as rear hub nut.

well my socket sets been expanding quite a bit now i bought the mk1 lol.

I'll have to buy a nice snap on tool chest to keep them in ….. i wish

go get a clarks one from machine mart. never seen the point in snap stuff if your not a mechanic. yes the stuff is good and the life time warrenty is fantastic but if you only use it once a month or in the case of 24mm socket once a year if your lucky then a normal tool will last a very long time.

having had snap-on tools before which i have broken and been told "in appropriate use of tool" on a refused warranty claim i now try not to use them if i can help it as a spanner that cost 2 quid and brakes is not real worry.

oh and i did in the end get the warranty allowed after sending the ratchet for testing as they accused me of using a bar to extend the arm which i had not done.

still of topic this sorry.

hmm, worth thinking about.   

Even a halfrauds one may do.  I didnt think snap on were so arsey about changin stuff.

i broke 3 in a year at which point they got a bit iffy with me. hence now recommend tenk or lazer tools. or at a push brit tools who i did really rate but not sure anymore.

you can get prada tools now aswell for all those designer car needs. :mrgreen:
