Pulling hard to the right when accelerating...

Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone's had the same problem or can help? (couldn't find anything already posted)

Firstly I appologise for the lack of technical description, I'm not too mechanically minded! When I accelerate its pulling quite hard to the right (it stays straight under braking) - I've just got back from having my tracking sorted but its not really made much diference…The steering wheel was quite out of alignment before which seems a lot better now but its still pulls to the right?

Are the tyres the same brand, worn to the same level and pumped up to the same pressure?

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Thanks for the reply - I'll check in the morning in the light!

I think they're both the same and almost new. I'll check the presure and the wear and post back.

I havn't checked the tyres as my first port of call because the pull is so severe, starting to wonder if its something more sinister…   :?

Just had a quick read about torque steer on the net - could this be a problem? (shakes head in embarrassment at lack of basic mechanical knowledge   )

Have you done the obvious thing, and raised the car into the air and driven it?

Checked and its same air pressure, both new tyres..

Hi Paul_C thanks for the reply, its going up on a lift on Weds night now so I'll take it from there

…in the mean time I'll carry on trying to find out where all this water in the drivers footwell keeps coming from! Doh!

wishbone bushs, bottom ball joints may look ok but when they have 1 ton pushing on them it a differant ball game, also engine mounts can cause this
