Problems with gear linkage changing from 4 to 5 speed box

Has anybody sucessfully completed changing the gearbox from a 4 speed to a 5 speed?

As far as I am aware, I have fitted the correct components. I have compared the components between the 4 spd and 5 spd on the EKTA, most components are the same with the exception of the gate and the last two rods which I have fitted with a 5 speed linkage service kit.

When selecting 2nd and 4th, the smaller linkage fouls the lower gearbox mounting web, no matter which way I fit it.

Are there any further modifications required to fit a five speed box?.

Any assistance / knowledge would be appreciated.

Have you put the linkage rod in...as it came out ie... Each spine in the correct slot? If not this could be your problem...

Matt? not sure what you mean, the operating lever to the gearbox is splined, but it is keyed, i.e. one thick spine, it can only fit one way.

The gear linkage spline at the end of the long operating rod is adjustable, but no amount of adjustment can get the small kinked operating rod to clear the web of the rear gearbox mount when selecting 2nd or 4th.

Remember, I have removed a 4 speed box and I am fitting a 5 speed box, the linkage route and final rod lengths and shapes are different, so I am installing it afresh.

Thanks for that, I am having another look today, first though, I am trying to fit CQs Rear ARB Saddle Clamps which are also causing me an issue.

I think that I have discovered why my 5 speed link rod fouls the bottom gearbox mount.

This item needs to be longer in height for the 5 speed.

Hi!
I have also changed from 4 speed to 5 speed gearbox, however i dont have any issues with any of the gears from 1-4 or reverse BUT it seems i cant get it in fifth gear.
Actualy i did change both engine and gearbox so all mounting rods etc came with it, can it be possible that my issue is the same as this thread?

well if you didnt change that thing then maybe! you will at least have to readjust the linkage once the 5 speed box is fitted. im assuming it was a big block you have, and not a 1.0-1.3
