Porsche 986 mk1 golf brake question

Apologies if this is a daft question but does anybody know if u can put the rear callipers off a 986 Porsche onto the front of a mk1 golf?

I know the front ones will but I fail to understand the difference between front and rear callipers other then the handbrake cable
