Play in the Steering Column?

I've got a of bit play in the steering column, it past the MOT fine, but I'd like to get it sorted.

Any ideas what I need to replace, whether it's just a bearing or the whole column?

I had the same problem a few years ago. What I did was get the link from the steering rack to the bottom of the column and swapped it over. You have to take the steering wheel off, plastics off from around the steering lock, then undo a allen key bolt and remove the steering lock, undo the joint at the bottom. Took me about 2 hours.

lhasa thanks. I'll have a play the weekend see if I can sort it!

From memory there are bearings top and bottom of the steering column which are prone to wear over time. Could be that these need replacing?
