plastic speedo drive in gearbox

mechanic managed to drop speedo drive in gearbox he told me it wont cause any probs is full of sh**e?I have had probs getting into 3rd but seems to be ok now.cheers

its pot luck, either the speedo gear will be mashed to a pulp by the gearbox and cause no problems, or bits of it might get lodged in the wrong place and cause problems. mainly if they get caught up in the selector mech you'll have issues.

I did the same, crossed my fingers and left it. I got away with it luckily,  randomly gears would be stiff to select for a a couple of days but it soon stopped.
