Perfect Stance Opinions

Hey guys,

The time has come to start my first mk1 project! I've got a few questions that'll be dotted around various seections on this site so any help will be much appreciated.

First things first. What combinations of drop/wheel/ tyre are (in your opinions) the most suited for the mk1? Obviously if your running adjustable coilovers i'd like to know what you think is the best drop in mm to give it the perfect look?

Any pics/ examples of combinations would also be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

15s running a sesnable drop (I have no idea what im running… I should really measure it) and a sensable offset and wheel width,

I used to run a 6.5" rim with 195/45 tyres and a ET of 33 and this was perfect, no arch catching, no catching on the coil overs and dropped quite a bit (about 10-15mm max between the arch and the tyre)

I have now gone up to a 7" wide rim and with a ET of 35 it hits the front coil overs so I have to run a 5mm spacer so et30, but this then is vveerryyy close to the arch when I hit a bump in the corner or corner fast (with the new fiberglass wings I actually catch so I have removed the lip where its catching) - but i do run 1.5degrees of -ve camber… a bit less camber and I wont touch the coil over…so I wont need the spacer and therefore I wont hit the arch lip, but the handling wont be as good…

so as you see dude it depends on a lot if you are going to set your mk1 up properly to get the most from it.

mine before the new wings, but still running -1.5degrees of camber on the front (the rear runs that stock, but the rear track is narrower than the front (mine runs a 6mm spacer on the rear too) from the factory by design)
