Passat MK3 suspension in a MK1?

I apologise if this has been asked before.
I have a parts of a 93 Passat VR6 for breaking and was wondering if the suspension, hubs, etc etc can be transplanted directly into the MK1 body.
The MK1 is a 1983 Golf Driver.  I'd like the idea of being able to have the big brakes and alloy rims from the passat.
Any help or advice would be great.

I think the Passat is interchangeable with the mk2, but definitely not with the mk1.

u could always use the vr6 calipers and cariers on ur mk1 hubs tho if you get some adaptor plates...you can get these from www.momentummotorparts.com
