Overheating Brakes

I have a standard set of 'P' slots on my campaign.  I am using EBC Greenstuff pads and grooved discs.

Took the car out for a blast yesterday and after a lot of down hill driving I noticed i was getting quite a lot of brake fade.  Something I hoped the uprated pads and discs would have soled.  The car is running new Dot4 brake fluid.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can keep the brakes cool, dont think the wheels help as there isnt a lot of room for air flow around the brakes so has anyone come up with anything else the get air in to cool them down!

Cheers Once again

Jamie

first, p slots are just fine. they race with them! i don't rate the ebc greenstuff pads. not sure about the discs but i wouldn't anyway. can i pressume you changed discs and pads and went out a thrashing? if so, you have not beeded the pads and discs. they need a few heat cycles in them in my opinion, but regardless of that, you just can't thrust heavy braking on fresh discs and pads. hopefully you have not warped them but you most probably have glazed them.

Wooders,

Cheers for the reply, No the brakes have been on the car for about 2 months now so are well beded in!

Maybe it was just too much down hill braking??  The wheel were very warm when I stopped.

I have noticed today that my n/s/f wheel bearing is on its way out, there is about 10mm of play in the wheel when the car is jacked up!!!!  Slightly releaved that it held out during my blast yesterday!!!!

Anybody know if its a big job???

Cheers Again

they are a bugger. have to get the hub off and get the bearing unpressed and the new one pressed in.
