Original Alloys on a Cabby??

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help, I've got an 1984 Cabriolet Gti currently running on some MOMO alloys, I want to get it back to as original as possible but I'm not sure what rims it would have been running on straight from the factory?  Was there a standard wheel these would have come with or did it depend on what the original buyer requested? Its not a clipper or anything and its black if this helps?

I would have thought it would have been the old 13" 9 spokes as on the original 1800 GTIs.

Not 100% on that though.

Cheers,

Drew.

Guys,

Are you sure 13" 9 spokes on an '84 cab?

ETKA does not show these for an '84.  I think it would be more like 14" AVUS 97 twin spoke wheel usually colour coded - also seen on scirrocos)

Also listed for the '84 Cab are:

BBS
HOCKENHEIM
ZANDVOORT
MONTREAL
LE CASTELLET
SILVERSTONE
ESTORIL

There are 11 types shown See pic in the Photos and Images section.

My experience of ETKA you need to go off chassis numbers rather than model years. For example Le Castellet was never available for 1984, only on the 91 on Rivage. The AVUS came in later than 1984, around 1987 I think. '84 Roccos and Cabs had the 9 spokes.

ETKA and ETOS are various CD versions of VW parts lists.

For the record, my brother's ex-German (LHD) '83 GLI Cabby ("DK" VIN no.) came with the 9-spoke alloys - even the spare was a 9-spoke.

My 84 Cab GTI had 13" 9 spokes on when I got it, I still have them if your interested, light kerbing but good for refurb, tyres no good.

I agree with the nine spokes, i think the ones after that were the scala type alloys with the coloured centres which came out on the D or E reg cabriolets.
