OMP strut brace fitment...2....

hi all, bought an omp rear brace tonight, and like a kid at crimbo wanted to fit it tonight aswell….

came to fit it, and could i get the nuts off the strut tops??

passangers side came straight off easy enough, drivers side is stuck solid. When turning it, it turns the metal dish shaped object beneath the nut and the rubber gromit beneath that aswell and is not moving up the thread on the bolt either, simply turning on the spot…..

might seem like a stupid question, just stumped me a bit thats all!

cheers for any advice in advance!

John.  :D

Heat it up gradually, this will expand the nut and might help.

Wd it a little or apply heat, either way is fine fella.
On top of the thread you'll see a flat edge on both sides, apply mould grips here and turn nut, so your stopping the shaft from turning whilst undoing the nut

Think I may have had to use an allan key when changing mine to stop rod turning :?

I no longer have the Mk1!! I now whizz round in a Black 1990 3dr Mk2 GTi 8v but the roof doesn't fold back when the sun shines :o
