Oil in bell housing? what seals gone?

So eventually got round to removing the gearbox to do my clutch replacement (after waiting 2 weeks for tools to turn up from Machine and Mart!) and when late last night the gearbox eventually came of I found the reason for the clutch slipping, it's covered in oil!

So what seals have gone? is their any way to tell if it's gearbox or engine oil to help locate the seals? not sure if it helps but the engine side of the bay is covered in oil but the gearbox its self is very clean?

cheers
Mat

if its gearbox oil it smells really bad, engine oil usually has a slight smell of petrol to it (provided its a petrol engine!).

Thanks guys, I think it is engine oil so new seal just ordered from Crazy Quiff's. As I need to wait for it to be delivered I've taken the time to clean the engine mounts for powder coating, drop them off on the way home so should be back to rebuild at the weekend result!
